Fredric August Frost & Johanna Nilsdottir

Fredric August Frost, son of Jonas Peter Frost and Sara Stina Fredricsdotter, was born on 19 Sep 1825 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden. He died on 29 Aug 1873 in Saline County, Kansas.

Johanna Nilsdottir daughter of Nils Johnsson and Stina Maja Nilsdotter was born on 21 Oct 1828 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden. She died on 15 Mar 1907 in Saline County, Kansas.

Fredric August Frost and Johanna Nilsdottir were married on 22 Jul 1849 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden. They had the following children:


  • Ida Frost was born in 1850 and died in 1923. 
  • Johanna Frost was born in 1852 and died in 1869.
  • Johan August Frost was born on 26 Aug 1854 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden. He married Hilma Carolina Lager on 01 Dec 1886 in Henry, Illinois, USA. He died about 1929 in Minnesota, USA.
  • Carl Oscar Frost was born on 18 Oct 1857 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden.
  • Nils Peter Frost was born on 07 Dec 1859 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden.
  • Gustaf Alfred Frost was born on 11 May 1862 in Morlunda Parish, Kalmar County, Sweden.
  • Hilma Frost was born in about 1866 in Illinois.
  • Francis Frost was born in about 1868 in Illinois.
The family came from Sweden to the U.S. in 1864, and settled at 1 Henderson Grove, Illinois, where they lived until 1869. Then then moved to Salemsborg, Kansas.

1870 Census for Spring Creek Township, Saline County, Kansas.    John Frost, age 32 is living next door. Probably a relative, but I'm not sure who he is.


Frederic August Frost died in 1873 at age 47, when his oldest son was just 19 years old.

The passenger List for the ship Anna Delius. Left Hamburg, Germany, arrived in New York on 27 October 1864. Shows the following passengers from Sweden:

          A Frost, 37, farmer
          Johanna, 32
          Ida, 10
          Johanna, 7
          boy, 5
          August, 2
          Alfred, 23


This seems very likely to be the family.
